Why We Exist

Non-violent civil disobedient actions are the things we do in XR to make us visible and share our message. Actions can take many forms, from rebelling on the streets and occupying spaces, to creative demonstrations, marches or replacing corporate advertising with street art. Our Actions Working Group works on the ideas, logistics and organisation behind making them happen and supports local affinity groups to turn their ideas into action.

So far in 2020 we’ve been focused on coordinating protests in Weston-super-Mare around stopping the airport expansion, in partnership with Bristol Airport Action Network and other campaigners. Together, we won! Expansion rejected!

What We Do

With spring comes new rebellions … in April we will be coordinating a two to three day Bristol protest including many different levels of actions. Keep your eyes peeled for save the dates to be released soon.

Additionally we are currently coordinating a rota of entry-level rebellious actions, from swarming a to die-ins, which will occur weekly for anyone to get involved with, especially new rebels.

The next XR UK Rebellion is from 23 May in London. We’re looking forward to planning this with you all!

Who We Need

We’re looking for all kinds of different people to join the Working Group and help us plan ahead. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm for the cause! Whether you’re full of bright ideas for how to improve our actions, or you’re super organised, we’ll find a place for you in the group.

We’re also looking for people to join the de-escalation group, who help to keep things calm during the actions themselves.
