Our Actions WG is low on numbers so, if you want to get stuck in to actions, come to our LG meetings and chat to a member of the Hosting or Integration team and we’ll help you.

Why We Exist

Non-violent civil disobedient actions are the things we do in XR to make us visible and share our message. Actions can take many forms, from rebelling on the streets and occupying spaces, to creative demonstrations, marches or replacing corporate advertising with street art.

So far in 2020 we’ve been focused on coordinating protests in Weston-super-Mare around stopping the airport expansion, in partnership with Bristol Airport Action Network and other campaigners. Together, we won! Expansion rejected!

What We Do

We are currently planning for the September rebellion, so things are busy! Our Actions Working Group works on the ideas, logistics and organisation behind making actions happen and supports local affinity groups to turn their ideas into reality.

Who We Need

We’re looking for all kinds of different people to join the Working Group and help us plan ahead. Whether you’re full of bright ideas for how to improve our actions, or you’re super organised, we’ll find a place for you in the group. No experience necessary, although we do ask that you have done an XR Bristol induction before joining the group.

We’re also looking for people to join the de-escalation group, who help to keep things calm during the actions themselves.
