Social Media Team (x4)

PLATFORMS REQUIRED: INSTAGRAM, SNAPCHAT & EMAIL

– Post content following overall story telling strategy, scheduling posts using buffer or equivalent platform so that they can be proofread by coordinator or designated person
– Attend to XR Bristol events to take photos, videos and live streams
– Monitor and reply to public comments when appropriate
– Reply to private messages
– Reply to inbox messages and signpost people when necessary
– Reply to emails

Social Media take-off role (x2)

This role is for those who have a keen eye on influential people out there on socials. To make an ever-growing list of groups, pages and individuals who we can connect with on social media and can help us get the word out. Then, contacting them and keeping up relationships. You’ll be good at talking to people, clearly communicating your asks to them and be confident, with an air of professionalism with well known people.

Tech people

If you’d like to get involved and help XR and have an interest in the technical side of the movement or have a technical mind this is a call out for you. We would like help with learning new online software applications, website analytics and SEO, website design and online support. On a more technical note, we also have a need for experienced WordPress theme Developers to join our team of coders. Welcoming Party (x …lots!)

Subgroup of the HOSTING TEAM

WHAT: Every week, we’re getting lots of new people in through the doors of our weekly meetings. We need some lovely friendly people who’s role is to welcome them into the space as they first arrive…to say hello, point them in the direction of the food table, and maybe link them up with other new people. It’ll be fun! Come and get involved.

Induction Facilitators (x4)

Subgroup of the OUTREACH WORKING GROUP (but working closely with the HOSTING TEAM)

WHAT: We have Induction Trainings that run every week as a part of the weekly meetings. We’re currently building a team of people who are interested in facilitating these sessions. Come and inspire the next generation of XR activists!

Affinity Group Formation Workshop Facilitators (x4)

Student Coordinator

To work with Giles, the other Student coordinator, to assist with liaising between XR Bristol and student XR groups. This role will also involve helping to recruit more students and advertising/facilitating student actions. Likely to involve liaising with other coordinators e.g. Youth/Talks/Stalls. We have a preference for a female to join Giles who is already doing this role.

Youth Coordinator (x2)

Not all students are youths and not all youths are students! This will involve advertising and helping to plan Youth Strike days, as well as other activities to spread the word among young people.

Stalls Coordinator (x2)

Stalls are a great way to get the word out. We hope to have a stall at Lush in Broadmead soon, but would like to run other regular stalls. This requires a couple of people to choose locations, set up the stall, talk to members of the public about the ecological crisis and XR. May also involve liaising with postcode coordinators to facilitate stalls in local areas.

Flyering Coordinator

To work with the other Flyering coordinator, currently Luke, organising and advertising flyering sessions aimed at community mobilising, advertising events/talks etc. May involve working with postcode groups to facilitate flyering in their local area. Could also involve working with members of the Arts group and other Outreach group members to design/produce new flyers. We have a preference for a female to join Luke who is already doing this role.

Door-knocking Coordinator

Organising and advertising door-knocking sessions aimed at community mobilising. May involve working with postcode groups to facilitate door-knocking in their local area.

Membership Coordinator (x2)

Someone to oversee our numbers, monitor growth, link new people to postcode groups and welcome new members at Tuesday meetings. Would also be good to keep track of the training that members have received, and try to monitor the “life cycle” of XR members (where do they come from, how do they find us, what determines their degree of involvement, how are we doing at retaining members, etc). Potentially one coordinator could be more person-focussed and the other more database-focussed. Will involve liaising with other coordinators, e.g., Participation coordinators.

Finance Coordinator

We are looking for someone who can coordinate a small group of enthusiastic Rebels who look after our money. This will entail two hours administration work a week.

Activities:

  • Online bank account admin, basic bookkeeping, basic budgeting
  • Ensure the bank account operators list is fit for purpose. You’ll be introduced to this simple process.
  • Liaise with the Fundraising Coordinator
  • Assign simple budgets to Working Groups

The welcoming voice of XR Bristol (x2)

Your role will be to call people who have attended a meeting for the first time and be the friendly voice who welcomes them and takes an interest in how they found it. The purpose is to create personal connections and encourage individuals to feel like they are really part of this movement. You will then be in charge of calling them again after a second meeting to ask more specifically how they’d like to apply themselves to XR.

The other group of people you will be calling are those who have signed up online and not been to meetings yet, so to welcome them onboard and along to meetings.

Researching + bringing on board youth influencers in Bristol and local community groups like Made In Bristol/bcfm/ujima. Affinity Group Support Team

Mandate: to support affinity groups in forming, getting the training they need and carrying out/participating in successful actions. This team also facilitates communications and mutual aid between affinity groups and working groups around upcoming local and national actions.

Main tasks:- organising bi-weekly ‘Affinity Group Council’ meetings- sharing news between affinity groups and about upcoming XR national actions- finding out about support/trainings affinity groups would like and communicating this to the relevant working groups- assisting with affinity group formation (if desired)

Time: 3 hours per week or more if you’re keen!
